Who We Are

Lead Clinician
Dr. Joshua Park, DSOM, L.Ac
Dr. Joshua Park understands firsthand the frustration of dealing with a chronic health condition. His own digestive disorder, which conventional treatments couldn't resolve, was successfully treated through acupuncture and herbal medicine. This personal experience revealed the transformative potential of East Asian Medicine when other approaches have reached their limits.

Dr. Park earned his clinical doctorate in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, where he trained under master physicians from Korea, China, Europe, and the United States. He subsequently worked for four years as an acupuncturist at Memorial Healthcare System in South Florida, treating oncology patients and individuals with autoimmune diseases and complex neurological pain.

Since joining Empowered You Acupuncture in 2023, Dr. Park has concentrated on conditions that have proven resistant to conventional treatment—including IBS and other digestive problems, autoimmune diseases such as Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, and chronic pain conditions like migraines, sciatica, and neuropathy. His therapeutic approach integrates acupuncture with herbal medicine, breathing techniques, and personalized nutritional protocols. He incorporates current research on the intricate connections between the gut microbiome, immune system, and nervous system.

Dr. Park employs a systematic methodology, addressing physiological imbalances in a carefully sequenced order to optimize the body's natural healing capacity. His patients frequently describe feeling truly heard and understood for the first time. After years of managing debilitating symptoms, many achieve sustained periods of remission and return to activities they had abandoned.

Founder
Erica Yang, MS, MTOM, L.Ac
Erica Yang is the founder and CEO of Empowered You Acupuncture. She holds Master's degrees in both Biomedical Sciences and Traditional East Asian Medicine, with clinical experience at Kaiser Permanente and City of Hope. Her training spans both rigorous Western scientific methodology and the sophisticated diagnostic traditions of East Asian Medicine.

Erica's path into East Asian Medicine began with her own health challenges. After years of chronic fatigue that conventional medicine couldn't diagnose or effectively treat, she discovered profound and lasting relief through acupuncture and herbal medicine. This experience fundamentally shifted her perspective on what becomes possible when we address underlying causes rather than simply managing symptoms.

Erica specializes in complex cases that often leave patients feeling dismissed and unheard. She treats autoimmune conditions, chronic digestive disorders, persistent pain, and the complications that can arise from conventional treatments. Many of her patients arrive after exhausting other options, frequently dealing with symptoms that remain invisible to standard diagnostic testing yet profoundly impact their daily lives.

Erica's approach centers on understanding how various body systems have fallen out of harmony and methodically working to restore balance. She combines precise diagnostic assessment with individualized treatment protocols. Her patients consistently report feeling genuinely heard and understood, often for the first time, while experiencing meaningful improvements in their long-term health and quality of life.
